TURKEY FX — Lira slips to fresh lows past 45.20 vs dollar; CBRT June meeting in focus
ISTANBUL, May 4 (Reuters) - The Turkish lira weakened
further in early Monday trade, with the dollar climbing
past 45.20 against the local currency, as investors
looked ahead to the central bank’s June 11 policy
meeting after April’s decision to hold the one-week
repo rate at 37%. The lira has lost about 18% against
the dollar over the past twelve months, traders said,
amid persistent inflation and elevated import demand.
